Afterschool students at School Settlement Association celebrate the 18th year of Lights On Afterschool.

Lights On Afterschool is a nationwide celebration of afterschool’s importance in the community.  On the day thousands of afterschool sites find creative ways to illuminate how afterschool adds to academic achievement in providing a safe place to study and participate in creative and athletic outlets.

All of St. Nicks Alliance afterschool sites participated in their unique ways. At School Settlement parents and students not in afterschool were invited to “live an afterschool day” by participating in afterschool activities. PS 150 had a literal take on Lights On and had a glow-stick party. PS 380’s afterschool held a family theater workshop with students and parents provided by the New York City Children Theater (NYCCT). PS 34 and MS 582 colored in Lights On Afterschool light bulbs with what they loved about afterschool and crayon.
