This is a year of milestones for Control Electropolishing Corporation (CEC)! 2019 marks the corporation’s 60th year in business and the celebration of the official opening new administrative offices in Queens’ Atlas Park Mall. Their production facility remains in Williamsburg (109-11 Walworth St.). The expansion of their administrative offices was influenced by 2017’s major increase in revenue (ten times that of 2010) and maintaining that level of productivity in 2018.
CEC also prides itself on being a family business: Nancy Zapata-Acosta (president/owner) purchased the company 28 years ago after working for the company the ten years prior. Her husband Manuel Acosta is the director of operations and daughter, Lina De La Cruz, is the vice president of operations. Beyond this their workers are viewed as family, and they all came out to celebrate the ribbon cutting. Also in attendance were Frank Lang and Beatrice Brown of St. Nicks Alliance, who are linked to Nancy’s commitment to affordable housing and workforce development in her roles a former president and current president emeritus of the organization. Evelyn Cruz representing Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez, State Senator Joseph Addabbo, Jr., Assemblyman Michael Miller’s office, and Brendan Leavy of the Queens Chamber of Commerce came to give their congratulations; Rev. Fr. Christopher R. Heanue from Holy Child Jesus Church bestowed a blessing.
