Planters at the 90th Precinct got some spring treatment thanks to the efforts of brother and sister Rafael and Evelyn. Lifelong residents of the community, who enjoy giving back

Mother Nature’s work is never done, and she is always happy for some help. On April 17th the planters in front of the 90th precinct received some TLC from community members Rafael and his sister Evelyn and a donation of soil and plants from the Nostrand Avenue Home Depot. The precinct’s C.O., Captain Timothy Skretch and Officer Carlos Posada were also helpful, and even their next door neighbor, FDNY Engine 216/Ladder 108/Battalion 35, pitched in by watering the planters with a fire hose.

A lifelong resident of Williamsburg, Rafael has always been active in the community, rallying for tenants’ rights and maintaining local public gardens. He’s looking to continue the community spark and spirit in hopes others will volunteer with him in keeping up the planters and the 90th Precinct.
If you are inspired to volunteer and help Rafael with maintaining the planters at the 90th Precinct you can contact him at 917.474.8742 or email: Nuewsletter@yahoo.com.
