Bocce will once again bring the community together to raise operating funds for Swinging Sixties Senior Bus. The third annual Bocce Tournament will add a new venue for the play offs: the bocce courts at Domino Park will host the day-long event on June 8th starting at 10 a.m. Teams from local businesses like Crest Hardware and Two Trees will face off to determine who will make the June 10th finals at the Swinging Sixties Senior Center’s bocce courts. Tickets for the playoffs can be purchased at BocceforBus.org and the $25 price includes breakfast and lunch. However if you’ve been to a previous bocce tournament you’d know the entertainment value is exponentially worth more than this price of admission.
Last year’s fundraiser brought in over $7K for the Swinging Sixties Senior Bus. This vehicle began shuttling seniors to and from the Swinging Sixties Senior Center in late January of 2018. For many local seniors it’s a lifeline to activities and social interaction that improves their health and well being, as they couldn’t make the trek to the center on their own.
The 3rd Annual Bocce Playoffs will be held on June 8th at the Domino Park bocce courts at S.4th Street and River (in case of rain the Playoffs will move to 211 Ainslie Street). The 3rd Annual Bocce Finals will be held at June 10th at 211 Ainslie Street starting at 6 p.m. There’s still time to form a team, purchase a sponsorship or ticket, or donate.
