El Puente celebrated Three Kings inspiring a fight for our environment via all the senses. Their 33rd annual show was titled Nuestro Aire (Our Air) , Nuestro Tierra (Our Land), y Nuestro Mar (Our Sea). On entering the Grand Street Campus the walls were decorated with removeable murals that placed you in an impressionistic aquarium.
El Puente co-founder and executive director Frances Lucerna opened each of the two shows by acknowledging the “crisis of spirit” and campaign for self-determination in Puerto Rico. Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez also urgently spoke on the destructive effect climate change is having in our times and cited the recent earthquake in Puerto Rico.
The youth performers created a magical world with the help of El Puente’s teaching artists and the glorious set painted by Joe Matunis and Vera Weinfield.
You could also partake of Census 2020 information and water bottles were give to those who pledged to complete the census.
