The first week in April marked the second Holy Week during the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 was just beginning it’s dire influence in America during last year’s Easter. This year houses of worship had more time to prepare for their Holy Week and Easter observances with pandemic protocols.

Saint Cecilia Catholic Church (84 Herbert Street) pre-COVID-19 would participate in the Divine Mercy Parish Good Friday procession which marked stations of the cross throughout the parish neighborhood en route to each of the parish’s three churches (Saint Cecilia, Saint Nicholas, and Saint Francis of Paola). Divine Mercy parish acknowledged 2021’s Good Friday in a very traditional way. The mass was all in Latin, the choir sang Latin hymns, and the service spanned 3 hours. The church was full up to the required COVID-19 safety attendance limit.
