A Summer Camp Outing to Newtown Creek

St. Nicks Alliance summer campers received the opportunity to participate in an Exploring Futures field trip to the Newtown Creek Wastewater Resource Recovery Facility.

One of St. Nicks Alliance’s summer camp sites was was selected to participate in the Exploring Futures field trip to visit Newtown Creek Wastewater Resource Recovery Facility.  Campers at the Greenpoint Beacon at M.S. 126 took a trip to this one-of-a-kind site where engineering, science, and sustainability intersect. They learned about New York City’s largest wastewater treatment plant: how it processes over 1.3B gallons of wastewater each day, details of its critical role in maintaining clean waterways and protecting public health.
