The Williamsburg Beacon Grand Street Campus Cheer Squad uses the sport of cheer to develop strong and confident young women and men. The discipline involved to succeed is excellent preparation that transfers to scholarship and citizenship in their life beyond high school.
“Cheer leading helps to team build, make life long sisters, and learn leadership. Cheerleading is a commitment made for strong women, girls and men,” said Kevana Dupree, member of the Williamsburg Beacon Grand Street Campus Cheer Squad
The squad consists of twenty-four Brooklyn middle and high school students. In a little over a month of competitions this team won the following distinctions: 2017 ESYFC Cheer Dance & Step Seven Champion, (Squad members also won individual medals 1 gold, 6 silver for jumps, tumbling and/ or stunts); 2017 AYC Big East Regional Cheer Champion; and 2017 AYC National Championships – 3rd place in Division 18.

The high level of commitment that it takes to excel in this sport imparts valuable life lessons such as integrity, work ethic, mutual respect, and accountability.
