On September 27th the Michele Giannattasio Lecture Series returns to Swinging Sixties Senior Center at 211 Ainslie Street with “Remembering the 1911 Triangle Fire”, the third installment of lectures tied to the community’s history. This lecture’s presenter is Prof. Mary Anne Trasciatti (Hofstra University), who is president of the Remember the Triangle Fire Coalition.
This tragedy of over a hundred years ago hits home on the realization that four of the 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire victims lived in our neighborhood. Bertha Greb, 25 years old, lived at 161 Nassau Avenue; Pauline Levine, nineteen, lived at 380 South 4th Street; Ada Brucks, only eighteen, lived at 126 Graham Avenue; and Anna Cohen, 25 years old, lived at 104 Melrose Street.
“Remembering the 1911 Triangle Fire”, the third installment of Michele Giannattasio Lecture Series will be presented on Thursday, September 27th from 7-8 p.m. (includes Q&A) at Swinging Sixties Senior Center at 211 Ainslie Street.
