A community 5k that was designated in 2008 as the “Best Race You Don’t Know About” by MetroSports NY has grown so that hundreds run through Greenpoint each year. Around 400 ran this run in 2025.

This year the sun was shining, and the runners were smiling. The smiles were possibly linked to endorphins or the joy of participating in a community run that supports St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Academy.  There is also a lot of fun to this run: there were bouncy houses.

This year’s winners were Collin Smith, bib # 168, the run’s overall winner who finished with a time of 16:55.05.  Hank Oransky, at twelve-years old, was first to cross the finish line of the runners under eighteen, and he was eighth overall. His time was 20:03.71.
